After seeing TiPb’s writers do there most used apps of 2011, I’ve decided to do my own most used apps of 2011 and an excuse to blog again. Anyways, let’s begin…

Tweetbot

I was a Tweetdeck iPhone user for years, but was immediately hooked on a new and upcoming application when I saw a Twitter user named Travis Munson using the application. The application was really impressive with the features and customization of it. The interface is smooth and you can have and use multiple accounts with ease. While it may be $2.99 in the Apple App Store, it is indeed worth it for anyone that is into Twitter.

Instagram

There are all kinds of apps the fully utilize the iPhone camera with filters and whatnot, but I truly enjoyed Instagram the most this year. The simplicity and easy sharing is what won me over in this amazing application. It made my pictures much more eye catching when compared to the tradition method. While it maybe lacking in features compared to other similar applications, the fact of how simple it was to use and how wonderful the pictures look is what will make me continue to use it in the future.

Tiny Tower

When I first played this game I instantly thought it was just going to be like Angry Birds and I just play it for awhile and get bored of it, but that was not the case. I kept playing the game and tried making my tower as large as I can get. My tower may be the smallest in my circle of friends, but that is what makes Tiny Tower such an enjoyable game to just about anyone. Also, the game is free and doesn’t require players to buy money in the game unlike other games.

Tumblr

Tumblr

Besides my blog here I do have a Tumblr account and one of the ways that I added content was through the iPhone application. While most users complain about the design, I for one enjoy the application and how easy it is to put new content on your Tumblr. I am excited to see what will come from this application in the future and how my Tumblr will change because of it.

Alien Blue

Lastly, my most used application was Alien Blue, which is used to chack out Reddit. I’ve had Reddit for quite awhile, but I found no use for it until I found Alien Blue and was immediately hooked. The easy to navigate design and simple sharing was what won me over and made me look up my password in order to use it. If you are that die hard into Reddit, then you should invest some of your MB’s into this amazing application.

There you have it, my most used applications for the iPhone of 2011. Here’s to 2012 being a wonderful year and I hope you all have a wonderful New Year!

Rant: Annoying DVD Displays

Copyright Consumerist,Wal-Mart

Ok so here is the story about one thing in stores that sell DVD’s and that is their displays. So you go to one of these stores and you see a movie that looks interesting and you take it out to look into it and decide to hold off in getting it or to not get it at all. So instinct kicks in and you want to put it back in the slot, but the annoying display won’t allow you put it back. You push and it just won’t budge at all! My implication is that the store is telling you that if you take it out you must buy no matter what. Since you can’t put the DVD back you are then forced to just put the DVD to the far back and make all the customers hate your store for not allowing you to be a nice person and put a movie back in the right spot. Not only that, but the actually DVD will get crushed and bent because people try to push to far and they end up ruining the case for a potential buyer. You know what would make ours and the store owners happier is if they did away with these displays and did something like they do in a Video Store like Blockbuster or Hollywood Video stores. I know that the DVD/Blu-ray market is dwindling as we speak with services like Hulu and Netflix, but there are those who want there DVD’s in mint condition and not jammed in a slot with metal and plastic.

Overall, just find a way to better your DVD displaying purposes and maybe we all won’t get frustrated from putting a DVD back in the slot.

Rant: Studying Abroad

I have been in college for close to two years now and I am enjoying it a lot, but one thing that really annoys me is that I am consistently pestered by posters, filers and people to take the summer or winter and study abroad. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not against the idea and don’t hate those that actually do that. My problem with it is that they want you to come to there college and once your settled in they insist that you spend the Summer in Germany or go to Argentina for Spring Break. I am a college kid who is working at a job and going to school at the same time and I can’t spend the Summer in a different country. The whole idea of spending all this money just to studying in a different country just isn’t meant for me. Now don’t get me wrong I have nothing against others committing to study abroad, but could they just not shove all this “You love doing this!” or “Its a great experience!” in my face every time I enter the college. There has to be a way to tell the school that I am not interested in studying aboard and they should focus on students that really want to do this instead of wasting their time on me.

I’m a huge gamer when it comes to the console, handhelds and the PC, but sometimes I’d like to take things easy and play on my iPhone. I am aware that they don’t compare to the competition like Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony, but they are still fun and enjoyable to play. Of all the games that are on the iPhone, like Angry Birds and Doodle Jump, there was a game for awhile that even beat out those popular games when it first came out. I am of course talking about…

copyright Andreas Illiger

Yes another iPhone game revolving around a bird, but this has nothing to do with merciless crashing into walls to destroy pigs. You play as a small bird with, of course, tiny wings and your dream is to fly. Due to your small wings, you can’t accomplish that dream and you’ll need to rely on the hills and by doing that will give you the speed that you need in order to fly for a short time. In order for this to occur you must tap on the screen at the right moment and release at also the right moment to receive more air hang time. During the game, you must reach to the end of each island before it becomes nightfall and rack up points by either touching the clouds, collecting coins or performing perfect slides. If you complete three consecutive perfect slides, which is when you hit a hill and continue at the speed your at, you enter fever mode and your points are multiplied based on what kind of nest you’ve obtained through completing achievements like having fever mode for thirty seconds or reach Island 8 before it become night or even getting to the fifth while the came is upside down. This is indeed one fast paced game and just one mistake can cost you the entire round and it is impossible to fully recover from it.

As for the game play, I was thoroughly impressed with the simplicity of the game and just how addicting it can be for someone into iPhone games. It really reminiscent to the Arcade games where you spent your allowance trying to beat the high scores and also improving in the game. I remember when I first played it I was really confused on what I needed to do to get my bird to advance further, but after awhile I got the hang of it and was immediately racking up a lot of points in the game. So as you can see, the game will need some good getting use to because since it is a new concept on the iPhone application market, but the reward is far more greater to those who enjoy the classic style of games that were made popular through the Arcades. Another thing that I enjoy in this game is the fact that the island change color and patterns everyday…

copyright Andreas Illiger

This adds more depth to the game and gives the gamer the motivation to play the game more to see what the island will look like when they reach it. It also gives the gamer something colorful to look at rather than seeing the same color over and over again. This applies to its stiff competition in the application war between them, Angry Birds and Doodle Jump. While they both have different episode and themes, they get tiresome to watch over and over and that is where Tiny Birds shines against the front runners and how the application became so popular. My only problem with this game was the tutorial and how confusing it was to understand what needs to be done to get the bird flying. Other than that, I really enjoy this game and hope other have or will enjoy as well.

So if you are in need of a solid iPhone game application, I would highly recommend it to just about anyone in need of a classic Arcade style or just something new and unique.

I give this a 9.5 out of 10

Blizzard Plans To Ban Starcraft II Cheating

I have not played the game yet, but I do plan to get it soon after I played it. Granted, I have not played any of the past games before, but I always wanted to the game before so why not now.

Anyways, I am actually surprised they didn’t act upon this sooner. I mean the game has been out for less than two months and they plan to ban up to 350,000 players of committing the act of cheating while playing Starcraft II. I, personally as a gamer, am appalled at the idea of cheating in a video game. It ruins the gaming experience and makes you look really desperate to win in the game.

I think this plan is the right decision in taking down these unlawful individuals and keep the game fair for those who want to play the game without fear of the opponent cheating.

Facebook: The Movie “Must-see Film of the Year”

I remember back in the day, two years ago, I came across news about Facebook becoming a movie. I immediately made a MS Paint Comic about it because I thought to myself, “How obscure a about a social-networking site becoming a movie.” Sure enough, they are actually making one.

Oddly enough, it is a must-see movie about a group of college kids using a website to meet woman and later expanded to other colleges to high schools and finally anyone on the internet. They also got through all kinds of controversies and tribulations into becoming one of the Internets most popular website.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate the site, but I don’t see the idea for a movie about how Facebook came to be. I guess I’ll just wait until it is release and available on Netflix.

Happy Birthday 25th Birthday Mario!

I’d like to give a belated shout out to one of my favorite video game characters of all time… Mario “Jumpman” Mario. For twenty-five years, you have starred in some of the best games throughout the Nintendo systems from Super Mario Bros. to Super Mario Galaxy 2.

There was a rough patch with Hotel Mario and some bad education you got through that with your head held high and made some amazing games for the consoles and handhelds. I hope for another wonderful twenty-five years with great games in all kinds of genres in the near future.

To close out my entry, I hope to “see you next time” on Awesome News

I am back for more of the Awesome News that you need to know.

New iPad planned for the Holiday Release [Rumor]

Let me start off by saying I was not really fond of the iPad when it was announced and after finally using it from a friend of my Father I can see the appeal of the popular device. From the capabilities of both an iPhone and tablet to the endless possibilities at your own disposal, I see why everyone flocked right to their Apple Store to try out this device. I for one will not buy it until I get through school and truly need it in the future.

Now back to the story, there has been a rumor circulating around that there may be new iPad coming out before the Holiday season. Of course most everyone knows that Apple shows new products every year in June or July whether it is a new iPhone or iTunes so a new iPad, which by the way is less six months old, may seem highly unlikely to happen. I expect a new iPad in late Spring or even early Summer, depending on their next conference will be.

Although, with the rise and demand of tablets and in the end there could be a new iPad for the consumer, but all is not set in stone and we might not know for awhile. So until then, keep your iPad close and hope for the best!

Ratchet & Clank All 4 One Gameplay Revealed

I will admit that when I first heard about this game being produced I was both excited and bitter at the same time. I have played the Ratchet & Clank games all the way to Tools of Destruction and loved every minute of all the games so far. With that said, when I heard they were no longer making Ratchet & Clank games I was really sad to hear such an amazing series was finished for good… Or so I thought!

It was awhile back and I heard that a new game was being developed for the PS3 and to feature Ratchet & Clank yet again. Upon hearing that I was disappointed to hear that it won’t be like the past Ratchet & Clank games. To much of the sadness that I had endure when I heard this knowledge, after viewing the gameplay in the video I can conclude my further excitement for this game. It features some unique gameplay and features some of my favorite characters from the series, which is always a plus for me!

Without further ado, I am thrilled for this game to come out and bring new challenges to the epic series of the handy Lombax and his awesome robot companion.

Number 5:

It’s Tough to be a Bug!

I really do enjoy this show over the years. From it’s zany humor, dark scenarios and inclusion of Bug’s Life characters to make the show an enjoyable one! A definite first show for anyone that goes to the park and is also perfect for young kids. It is certainly a great show and should not be missed at all.

Number 4:

Festival of the Lion King

Yet another great show that the Animal Kingdom can offer. The performances are really top-notch and it really makes you be part of a really amazing show. This show should not be missed too and it is definitely worth the wait to see it.

Number 3:

Primeval Whirl

This was actually my first time on a spinning coaster and it was a really fun experience. From the constant spinning to all kinds of surprises, the roller coaster is a really fun experience and make your entire day magical and exciting. If given the opportunity, you should ride the ride and experience what I had back in the day.

Number 2:

Dinosaur

Want a fun and exciting ride for your adventure at Animal Kingdom? Then look no further than Dinosaur for your thrill adrenaline to substantially rise. I won’t say much, but it is an awesome ride and a must-ride for just about anyone. If you are like me, you’ll be riding this ride multiple times no matter what. If it weren’t for number 1 then Dinosaur would take that spot without a second thought.

And the number 1 attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom:

Kilimanjaro Safari

I always wanted to go on a safari, but never got the chance until Animal Kingdom opened with Kilimanjaro Safari. It is just like what you would expect in a African Safari and even more. With all kinds of animals and also a few surprises along the way, this ride has become my favorite attraction at the Animal Kingdom. The ride has everything you could ever want and people should ride it and fully experience the awesome that is Kilimanjaro Safari.

Well here is my final list for Disney World and remember my opinions may be different than yours.
