We open this week on the last day of January with two movies…

First up is “That Awkward Moment” starring Zac Efron, Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan. I have no interest in this movie, but with star power from both Zac and Michael is enough to draw a crowd to the movie theaters. Aside from the usual “show the funny parts” that we normally see in trailers and commercials, that isn’t enough to gain my money this week or when it comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Next up opening today is “Labor Day” starring Kate Winslett and Josh Brolin. The same people that brought us “Up in the Air” and “Juno” are back with another chick movie. It seems like the common romance movie with two hours of tension and the same elements that you see in every stereotypical chick movie. This includes a widow still grieving over her husband, a struggling teenager and a person with a checkered past. Of course like I said, this movie appeals to it’s market audience so I will expect high numbers and with Valentine’s Day around the corner it’s the best time for this movie to be released.
